Chicken masala is a spicy version of chicken which
can be used as a side dish for rice or chapathi. Same recipe can be prepared
using mutton as well.

Ingredients:
Chicken – 500gram
Gingelly Oil – 3 tbsp
Onion- 1 large sized (Finely chopped)
Small Onion/Sambar Onion/Shallot – ½ cup (chopped)
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1tbsp
Tomato – 2 medium sized (Finely chopped)
Chilli Powder - ½ tsp
Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
Salt – as required
Lemon Juice – 2 tbsp
For masala:
Coriander Seed – 1 tsp
Cumin Seed/ Jeera – 1 tbsp
Fennel Seed/Sombu – ½ tbsp
Pepper – 1 tbsp
Cinnamon/Pattai – small piece
Clove/Kirambu – 4nos
Cardamom/Elachi – 4 nos
How to prepare Chicken Masala:
- Dry roast the ingredients for masala and powder them.
- In a frying pan add oil and sauté onion till it become transculent, Now add ginger garlic paste and sauté for a min, then add the tomato and cook till soft.
- Add the chilli powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, 1 tbsp of grinded masala and salt. Mix them well and add the chicken pieces.
- Cover with lid and cook for 5-10 mins in low flame till the water releases from chicken and got evaporate. Now add half cup of water and leave for whistle till the chicken get cook.
- Once the pressure got release chicken fry is ready to serve. Simmer the chicken Masala at this stage if required. Spicy Chicken Masala is ready to serve.
