Paruppu Keerai Masiyal/Palak Kadaiyal


Keerai Kadaiyal is one of the simple and easiest recipes, which taste good even for one who hates green. This recipe was introduced by one of my relative when I was a kid; I loved it so it got continued as my favourite dish.

Ingredients:
Spinach/Keerai- 1 cup (100gram) chopped and tightly packed
Thoor dal- 3 tbsp
Pearl onion/Shallot- 10 nos
Tomato- 1 chopped
Green Chilli- 3 nos
Garlic Cloves- 3 nos
Asafoetida/Hing- ¼ tsp
Water- ½ cup
Salt- As required

To temper:
Oil- 1 tbsp
Mustard- ¼ tsp
Cumin/Jeera- ¼ tsp
Curry leaves- 1 sprig

How to prepare Palak Kadaiyal:
  • Add all the ingredients in pressure cooker and whistle till the dal got cooked smashy.
  • Once the pressuregot released open the lid and mash it using smasher or keerai mathu.
  • Temper the mustard, jeera and curry leaves in oil and add them to masiyal.
  • Serve this with white rice and ghee.
