Kozhi kondattam is a spicy chicken recipe popular in Malabar region. Preferably use boneless chicken, also good with normal chicken pieces as well. This can be served as a starter or with chapathi, rice or with roti.

Ingredients:
For Marination:
Chicken- 250gram
Red Chilli Powder-½ tbsp
Pepper Powder- ½ tsp
Cumin Powder- ½ tsp
Turmeric- ¼ tsp
Lemon juice or Vinegar- 1tbsp
Rice flour- 1tbsp
Corn flour- 1tbsp
Salt- as required
Water- as required (to mix the Masala)
For Masala:
Onion- 1large(finely chopped)
Green chilli- 2 (slitted)
Ginger garlic paste- ½ tbsp
Red chilli- 3
Red chilli flakes- 1tsp
Red chilli powder-1tsp
Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
Coriander powder-½ tsp
Garam masala powder- ½ tsp
Soy sauce- 1tsp
Red chilli sauce- 1tbsp
Tomato ketchup- 2tbsp
Curry leaves- 2sprig
Coconut- 1tbsp(grated optional)
Salt-as required
Oil- 2tbsp
How to prepare Chicken Kondattam:
- Marinate the chicken in a bowl with listed ingredients for 20mins.
- Deep fry or shallow fry the chicken for about 10mins or till it cooked well.
- In a pan add oil add saute the red chilli, then add curry leaves and saute it aromatic.
- Now add the onion along with green chilli, saute for 2mins then add ginger garlic paste and cook till raw smell goes.
- Add all masala powder, red chilli flakes and salt, saute for a min.
- Now add all the Sauce along with coconut, mix well and check the taste now, add red chilli powder or salt if required, finally add the fried chicken and coat well for a minute. Chicken Kondattam is ready to serve.
Tips:
- Increase the quantity of red chilli powder in masala if any of the ingredients like chilli flakes, chilli sauce are missing.
