Pichu potta kozhi varuval/Shredded Chicken fry

Pichu potta kozhi varuval is an authentic, spicy, delicious recipe which will go as a starter, Side dish or snacks. Good with rice or roti as well.

Ingredients:

For cooking Chicken:

Chicken- 300grams

Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp

Salt- as required

Green chilli- 1

Ginger garlic paste- ¼ tsp

 

For masala:

Onion- 1large (chopped)

Tomato- 1large (chopped)

Green chilli- 2medium (chopped)

Ginger garlic paste- ½ tsp

Curry leaves- 1sprig

Coriander leaves- 2tbsp (chopped)

Red chilli powder- 1tsp

Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp

Coriander powder- 2tsp

Pepper powder- 1tsp

Cumin powder- ½ tsp

Salt- as required

Coconut Oil- 4tbsp

How to prepare pichu potta kozhi varuval:

  • Pressure cook the chicken with green chilli, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder and salt along with some water (around ½ cup).
  • Allow to cool and shred the chicken into small chunks. Keep the Chicken cooked stock water for later use.
  • In a pan add coconut oil and saute the onion, green chilli and curry leaves till transculent, add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute, then add the tomato cook till soft.
  • Now add all the masala mix well, now add the shredded chicken and mix till masala coat well to the Chicken.
  • Add the stock water and cook on low flame till the water evaporates. Add oil if the Chicken looks too dry and saute till chicken starts to leave oil. Finally add the coriander leaves and serve the shredded chicken fry.

 

Tips:

  • If possible use boneless chicken, so that you can pulse in mixer jar to shredded the Chicken. If using bone chicken shred with hands.
  • If you have added more water while cooking Chicken it can be served as a soup or mix with rice for toddlers.
  • You can also pressure cook chicken with only turmeric powder and salt.
