Kuthiraivali is also called Barnyard millet,
Jhangora, Odalu, Kavadapullu. This is one of the healthiest millet which can be
give to babies after 6 months. Combining this with carrot will enrich the taste
and give sweetness naturally. Check with your paediatrician before introducing
any new food for babies.

Ingredients:
Kuthiraivali rice - 2 tbsp or 30grams
Carrot - 1 small grated
Water - 1 cup or 250ml
Jaggery Power/Brown Sugar - As required (optional)
Ghee - ¼ tsp (optional)

How to prepare
Carrot Kuthiraivaali:
- Rinse the kuthiraivalli rice. Boil the water in a saucepan and add the cleaned rice along with carrot and cook till soft.
- Now add the jaggery power or brown sugar along with ghee and give a stir. Remove from flame and allow it to cool.
- Smash it to smooth puree with masher or blender. Now the food is ready to serve.
Tips:
- Introduce this in puree form for 6 months baby after few months this can be give as such without blending, as this food will be super soft after cooking.
- After making puree adjust the consistency if required by adding hot water or breast milk or formula milk.
- If doctor recommend adding ghee it can be added after 9 months.
- If using jaggery dissolve in water, filter it and then add only after rice and carrot got cooked. Adding sweetener in the beginning will not let the rice to get cook.
