Watermelon Panakam(Panagam)

Watermelon is called Darpooshani in Tamil, which is good during summer. This healthy juice which cools down your body during summer made at home.  All ingredients used are natural. Here we are using smashed or diced watermelon. Hence the fibre content of the fruit is not spoiled. Having bite of fruit is healthier compare to drinking them as a juice.

Ingredients:
Jaggery(grated)- ¼ cup
Watermelon- 1 large piece
Cardamom- 2
Dry ginger powder- A pinch
Water- 1 large cup
Boiled water- ¼ cup

How to prepare watermelon panakam/dharpoosani panagam:
  • Dissolve the jaggery in boiling water and filter it. Allow this to cool. 
  • Cut the watermelon into pieces. Take a large piece out of it.
  • Remove the flesh part of watermelon and deseed it.
  • Smash the watermelon with fork or smasher. You can also dice the watermelon into small chunks instead of smashing.
  • Add this smashed watermelon with water, cardamom, dry ginger powder and serve the watermelon panagam chill.

Tips:
  • You can also use brown sugar or Jaggery powder instead of jaggery.
