Pink Javvarisi Payasam/Pink Sago Kheer – Onam Sadya Kerala Special

Pink Javvarisi Payasam is pale pink flavour kheer which is famous in Kerala. The taste of the kheer will be delicious, will be easy to make using cooker. You can also prepare this in kadai or pan which will take more time.

Ingredients:

Nylon Javvarisi/Sabudana- ¼ cup

Milk- 500ml

Sugar- ½ cup

Cardamom- 2 (crushed)

Ghee- 1tbsp

Cashew nuts- 8nos

Raisins- 8nos

How to prepare Pink Sago Kheer:

  • In a pan add ghee, roast the cashew nuts, raisins and keep aside. Then add Javvarisi in the pan and cook till it starts to pops.
  • Add water and cook the Javvarisi till soft.
  • In a pan add ¼ cup of sugar, melt in low flame till it caramelize to honey colour, add boiled milk and mix well.
  • Simmer in low flame for 10mins, the milk will be pale pink and flavoured.
  • Now add the cooked sago along with milk, add remaining sugar and cook in low flame for 10mins or till it reaches desired consistency.
  • Finally add roasted cashew nuts and raisins. Pink Javvarisi Payasam is ready to serve.
